This description to the arrangement of the ODBC driver is based on the IBM DB2 version 7.2! The arrangement under IBM DB2 version 8.1 deviates of this description easily. The "client configuration assistant" is named then "configuration assistant".
Start the program "client configuration assistant" over "start" => "programs" => "IBM DB2". Following window opens:
If however in the column "ODBC name" the database name is listed then the database is already registered for ODBC! In this case you can skip the ODBC arrangement.
Mark the database and click on the button "Properties...".
Set the hook in "Register this database for ODBC" with the option "As a system data source"! Subsequently you click on the button "OK".
How you can recognize now, the database name is now listed in the column "ODBC Name" at your database. Mark again the database and click the button "Test" to make an connection test.
Input your user name and your password and click the button "OK" to start the test.
Subsequently following message should appear. If the connection test failed please contact your administrator or the IDL hotline. Click now on the Button "OK".
