The update 1 for release 2016 includes changes and enhancements to the complete IDL product suite. The installation of the products and components depends on the corresponding licence.
This documentation describes the changes on the component package based on the IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST Application Server with the components IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST und IDL.XLSLINK. The installation of this update may be left out in the installation sequence of this component package. The minimum requirement for the installation of this version is the last release 2016 from September 2015. Please mind that the year number 2015 has been left out in the release nomenclature!
Since the installation of releases is required in the sequence of versions while the installation of updates is optional, it is assumed that updates are installed only by customers who prefer to work with the most recent version. Thus the maintenance of this update will be finished with the delivery of the subsequent version "Release 2017".
The corrections on Release 2016 that have taken place up until the closure for this version are contained in this update.
You should always perform a database backup before you install a new release. To prevent a user from losing data, a notice on the necessity of backing up data will be issued by the installation program at the start of installation.
You must always perform the migration for IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST (see ch. 1.2) first, after a new release or update has been installed. For this reason, a message will be issued when you start IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST for the first time after installation of this version to let you know that migration has not yet taken place. This message box contains the button 'Start migration now'. If you click this button, migration will start automatically. Following successful completion of the migration on this way, IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST does not need to be restarted again. All of the applications will be available immediately.
If migration is not started in this manner, for instance because the logged-in user does not have access rights, all other applications will be locked. The only exceptions are the applications that are used to maintain authorisation data, in case the logged-in user is not authorised to carry out migration, due to the use of individual authorisation groups. Following manual completion of migration, you will need to restart IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST to ensure that all of the application functions are available again.
Release 2016 and this update 1, too, use version 1.8 of Java. For IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST Application Server IDL delivers the corresponding JRE (Java Runtime Environment) in the installation directory. This does not apply for remote internet clients connected to the IDL.KONSIS.FORECAST Application Server via web-start. There the JRE has to be updated by the users themselves (Java update to the most recent version due to automatic proposal).
The read and write functions of IDL.CONNECTOR (old) are no longer developed from release 2016 on. Running Excel worksheets may be continued to be used, however, there will be only limited support by IDL. From release 2016 on only IDL.XLSLINK is supported for these purposes. Only IDL.XLSLINK can be used in connection with the 64 bit version of MS Excel. IDL.XLSLINK requires at least the version Microsoft Excel 2007.
Since the Excel entry form is technically based on IDL.CONNECTOR the IDL.CONNECTOR programs are still delivered with the update 1 installation.
When installing a client from now on the files rstart.exe and kcusap.exe required for start of IDL.IMPORTER and the SAP interface are copied into the local load directory, too. However, this does not apply for webstart clients.

Documentation of the user group meetings is no longer part of the installation packege since this documentation can be downloaded from the IDL Service Centre separately.
